Hitting the wall :(

I knew this had been coming for a while and today I hit the proverbial wall - physically, mentally and emotionally. I felt so exhausted from cramming everything into my day (and by my own admittance, doing too big a training session in one hit before client sessions) that I had to get in contact with Donna. Luckily with the time difference in North Carolina, she was able to respond to me immediately and I feel so much better for speaking with her. I was given the remainder of the day off training and dieting and I've spent time this evening scheduling in my training sessions for the remaining four weeks of prep.

I decided to take my skinfolds today (8 sites) and have come in at 58kg and 12%. Yeah, I'm pretty stoked with that result considering last year I competed at 52kg and 13% :) My goal is to be sub-10% this time around, so I've decided to up the ante with my cardio. Along with the plyometrics session with Sammy on Thursdays, I've enlisted the help of another fellow PT for a boxing session each Friday morning. Add in a few BodyCombat classes, RPM classes and the dreaded Kangaroo Point stairs and this last bit of fat should start melting off!

So I'm now in a good headspace, feeling organised and looking forward to the next month of training. BRING IT ON!
37 days and 2kg to go

I thought it was high time for an update post :) As you can probably imagine, life is extremely busy at the moment with comp prep (training up to 3 hours per day - weights, cardio and posing) as well as training clients and running my PT business! Somedays I do wonder how I'm going to fit it all in, but I just harden up and get on with it.

Next week, I start some high intensity plyo training with my housemate Sammy. Her plyo workouts are a real killer and I expect that there will be some moments where I will be close to throwing up! We're hoping that the high intensity sessions will help bring my legs and glutes in a lot tighter and leaner. My upper body is already quite lean (freaky lean according to my training partner) - I just need the bits between my waist and knees to catch up!

My weight has been dropping quite nicely as well. In fact I've dropped another 0.5kg since the weekend which leaves me with only 2kg to go. With 37 days under my belt, I really dont see it being a problem at all! I will definitely be coming in 4kg heavier and I certainly have a very different shape from last year, which I'm very excited about!

Just before I shoot off to RPM, a big shout out and GOOD LUCK to my coach, Donna Jones, who is competing at the Europe Super Show in Texas this weekend. I trained with Donna on Monday and I must say, she is looking bloody amazing!

Unfortunately my surname has been spelt incorrectly!

Sometimes you just have to make sacrifices

I guess the title of this post pretty much sums up this sport in a nutshell. You have to make so many sacrifices to compete, but at the end of the day, its so very much worth it.

The sacrifice I've had to make is my trip to Melbourne this weekend. After much consideration, I've decided that its not worth screwing up my prep for three days away. I'm in such a good place right now and I know that all the socialising during my weekend away will be very, very hard to negotiate. Sure, I can pack a weekend's worth of food and take it with me, but I just dont want to risk it. I've even postponed my 30th birthday celebrations (which fall in the middle of the season) to late October so I can enjoy myself. Now that's a sacrifice!

Training has been going really well this week and I really feel like everything is starting to 'kick in'. I've had a number of clients and even other trainers at work mention how lean I'm looking now. One of the trainer even asked me 'where my butt had disappeared to?'....:) Yep I'm DEFINITELY on the right track. Mind you, I'm not sure what my weight or skinfolds are at this point in time. I've decided to ban myself from both and just focus on how I'm looking each week. After all, the judges on the day aren't going to know so why torture myself? I do know that my clothes are getting a lot looser, so I know that I'm leaning out nicely.

60 days and counting........
Suck it up, buttercup

Things were going along quite well until the weekend when the dreaded mindgames finally struck. I spent a good 48 hours stressing over the littlest things and even came that close to pulling out. So after a chat to Donna and a night out at the movies with Sammy, my head was back in a good place. I feel so much more back in control and confident with how I'm coming in for these next comps. I'm just taking it one day at a time - ticking off all my training, meals and supps and getting through that day before thinking about the next one.

Tonight, I trained chest and abs with one of my clients and I swear it was the best session I've ever had! We absolutely smashed ourselves and we both hit PB's on every single exercise - DB press, DB flye, bench press and cable crossover. Needless to say we're going to be sore tomorrow morning!

I'm planning on changing my weights program in a few weeks time. I've been on this once since 16 weeks out, so its nearly time for a shake up. I've been going the traditional hard and heavy training for my upper body and its definitely showing. My upper body is bigger than its ever been and I love the way it looks. All I have to do is bring the butt in and I'll be right!
